Project Communique: Jan. 18, 2018

Hello everyone,

Hope you are doing well and have started a fantastic year!

You are receiving this email as you have been identified as the Divisional Lead for the Toolbox Renewal Project.

You will receive an update from me biweekly in 2018 regarding the high level project progress.

Your divisional Key Communication Contact will receive the project information updates and weekly tips every week to share with your community. The first communication was sent out last week and hopefully circulated already.

New LME and Sandboxes:

After running the “Name the new Portal” student contest, Quercus was selected as the new LME name. The announcement is posted on the project website at: toolboxrenewal.utoronto.ca and more university wide communication will be send out tomorrow through various communication channels.

The website for Quercus is: q.utoronto.ca and everyone can log in with their UTORid and password. Additionally every instructor has a sandbox to explore Quercus and online resources are available on the homepage for more guidance.

Early Adopters:

In total 45 courses with 3250 student enrollments started using Quercus as early adopters in Winter 2018. There were 10 orientation sessions held in November and December to prepare the early adopters and the participants are encouraged to share their experience with us as we prepare Quercus for General Availability. We will be holding an official feedback session in late February to capture the feedback.

Training:

We had our first round of “train the trainer” by Instructure in November of 2017.

The 2018  bi weekly “train the trainers” Webinar series started today with the next two dates as follow:

Thursday Jan 18: From Portal to Quercus: Tool and Feature Compatibility

Wednesday Jan 31: Grading Quercus

Wednesday Jan 14: Quizzes and Surveys

All Technical and Training Leads are invited to attend.

For Faculty and Staff we start the divisional information sessions in February coordinated by each division key communication contact or technical and training lead.

Camp Quercus:

We are hosting a full day of “train the trainer” session on January 26, 2018 with all Technical and Training Leads invited where we will prepare and plan for divisional faculty and staff training.

Please feel free to reach out to me directly or email for any further information!

Thank you
